School Visits

Bringing laser comms to the schoolyard.

The TeraNet team runs a outreach program designed to entertain and educate primary- and high- school students in Australia’s role in optical communications, and how we are leading the way in high speed space data transfer.

To book a tour, please speak to the International Space Centre at UWA, on 9324 1135 or isc@uwa.edu.au.

What can you expect?

Be prepared to link the curriculum to this real-world, West Australian solution! A demonstration of the third, mobile, node in the TeraNet network will connect the students to Earth and Space Sciences, Physical Sciences, Science as a Human Endeavour, and Use and Influence of Science. The incursion begins with an interactive discussion on satellites, communications via space, and the need for laser communications. We then end with a real life demonstration of drone optical signal acquisitions and a tracking demonstration with our eye-catching Jeep mobile ground station (TN-3)!
